August 26, 2016 – The Vail Centre is pleased to announce that distinguished gallery owner, Bill Rey of Claggett/Rey Gallery in Vail Village has joined the Vail Centre Board along with startup entrepreneur Nick Wyman, Director of Galvanize Ventures. In addition, Colleen Davis, formerly with Georgetown University, has joined the Vail Centre as the Vice President of Development.
“We are very pleased to add two, extraordinary individuals to the Board of Directors of the Vail Centre who will help broaden our outlook and solidify our plans for the future. Bill Rey brings the perspective of a long-term resident and 27-year business owner in the Vail Valley. Nick Wyman can provide insight into the area of entrepreneurship and education as Director of Galvanize Ventures, a unique seed-stage capital fund for the start-up community,” said Ross Iverson, CEO of the Vail Centre. “We also welcome Colleen Davis, an experienced development officer who formerly oversaw gifting for the business school at Georgetown University. We are very pleased to have these talented professionals join the Vail Centre team.”
Bill Rey has been a part of Vail for 33 years and is an owner of the Claggett/Rey Gallery. His world has always revolved around art and Colorado. He spent most of his youth in Durango where his father was a painter and today, he and his wife, sculptor Margaret DeDecker, live in Vail. His art gallery, Claggett/Rey Gallery, has been a vibrant center for art for over 27 years in the heart of Vail Village. On becoming a member of the Vail Centre Board, Bill Rey commented, “I believe the Vail Centre is a true game changer for the Vail Valley and is a platform that will impact the future of our community. Vail has a wonderful 50-year history as a tourist destination and the Vail Centre is going to be an anchor for the next 50 years as we transition into a digital world where Vail will attract more location-neutral businesses that demand and require the type of support and professional education that the Vail Centre provides.”
Based in Boulder, Colorado, Nick Wyman is the Director of Galvanize Ventures, a seed-stage capital fund that invests in startups across the country. Based on community, Galvanize offers a network of integrated campuses to support startups and help them connect with a portfolio of founders. Nick has been visiting Vail for years and spends many of his weekends in the valley both winter and summer. Nick Wyman noted, “My goal is to assist in making the Vail Centre a world-renowned destination for personal and professional development by helping them attract the best professors, talent and programming to our one-of-a-kind Rocky Mountain campus.”
Colleen Davis comes to Vail from Washington, DC where she was a development officer at Georgetown University. She worked as a regional gift officer and then led the overall strategy for development at the McDonough School of Business MBA and Executive Programs. “I am thrilled to be a part of the Vail Centre. As a development officer for Georgetown University’s MBA program, I was able to see first hand the power of revolutionizing continuing education for professionals, especially during my travels for them across the U.S., and around the world,” said Colleen Davis.
