Weather in Vail.
Sunshine, blue skies, two things you can count on in Vail. Daytime temperatures in the summer range from 60-78 degrees(F), and between 20-45 degrees(F) in the winter. Temperatures drop overnight and a coat is advised at any time of year.
For more information about the weather, click here.
Mountain Attire.
Mountain attire ranges from ski gear in the winter to business casual. Our focus is not on fashion, but on function. It is an active lifestyle with a mountain flair.
The streets are cobblestone, the air is fresh and there are opportunities abound to get out and explore more.
Vail is a pedestrian-friendly town with the in-town and Town of Vail transportation system. With the exception of the in-town bus, the Vail Village, Lionshead and Golden Peak corridor is off limits motorized vehicles.
Travel within Vail.
Ride the free, in-town shuttle and travel with ease along the Vail Village, Lionshead and Golden Peak corridor. The venues and accommodations selected for the program are within walking distance of each other.
The free transportation system extends to East Vail and West Vail and adds real-time arrival information using GPS to synchronize your schedule. For the most current times and routes, visit the Town of Vail website or call (970) 479-3456
The regional Eco Transit bus system will provide daily service to neighboring towns for a low fare.
If you find yourself in need transportation while you are in Vail, there are private shuttles, car rentals and taxis for hire.
Adjusting to Altitude.
Millions of people travel to high altitude for business and pleasure every year. The lower oxygen levels found at high altitudes may be noticeable for some participants traveling to Vail. If your schedule allows, consider spending some time in Denver (5,000 to 6,000 ft) prior to heading up to Vail (8,150 ft to 11,570 ft).
As you arrive in Vail, you may notice that you lose your breath quicker than normal. This is your body’s normal, early response to altitude adaptation. This is also a cue to:
- Drink more fluids and enjoy our mountain spring water.
- Reduce alcohol intake. Don’t worry. There is time to celebrate at your ceremony.
- Reduce sodium.
- Take it easy. Don’t plan on strenuous exercises. This is a great time to sit by the Gore Creek and take in the sights.
Altitude sickness may occur as your body adjusts to altitude. It affects people differently, independent of your level of physical fitness and age. Common symptoms are headaches, queasiness, fatigue and trouble sleeping. These symptoms may last up to 48 hours. Read more about Altitude Sickeness from the Vail Valley Medical Center.
Accessibility in Vail.
While accessibility within the Town of Vail is not strictly enforced, most locations are accessible. We recommend that you call ahead to your destination to ensure that it suits your needs.
For the program, the hotel accommodations and venues offer accessible options. As you complete your program hospitality form, please indicate and needs related to accessibility.

Each location is able to serve two cars at a time with high speed charge. The Programs
An Integrated learning platform
Each Learning Centre offers a variety of learning experiences in formats designed for lifelong exploration, professional development, corporate learning and international collaboration.
CERTIFICATES & SHORT COURSES.
Evolve credentials or immerse yourself in a new topic. These multi-day experiences are hosted by the Vail Centre in collaboration with University partners, or custom-curated by Vail Centre with academic-based coursework.
Limited in size and all-inclusive, certificate programs empower participants to disconnect from everyday distractions and connect with renowned academic and business experts in conversation and across our mountain campus.
It is an immersive, highly-focused curriculum developed for a small group format that appeals to those seeking new skills, professional growth or expert knowledge of a specific field.
FELLOWSHIPS.
Extending the learning continuum of the certificate and short course programs, the Vail Centre invites participants to continue convening and action through the fellowship program. Over an 18-24 month program, these cohorts of eight to twelve people apply design thinking that focus on real-world solutions – a process of creating new and innovative ideas to solving problems, investigating topics in-detail and forming deep connections with one another.
Through quarterly retreats, the cohort wealth of knowledge evolves through experiential activities, access to real-world professionals and academic adjuncts that lead to an impact project.
SIGNATURE EXPERIENCES.
These events and forums are uniquely designed to create a space to convene for audiences that range from interest groups to government entities. We’ll blend facilitators, speakers, retreats, mountain experiences and program hospitality to enable participants to expand perspectives.
