Vail Centre, formerly the Vail Leadership Institute, is excited to announce that on December 11, 2015, it will present Terry Minger with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2nd Annual Torch Awards. Vail business and community leaders are invited to join the Vail Centre at the awards ceremony, dinner, and reception honoring Terry and other up and coming local influencers, entrepreneurs, and sustainability advocates.
From his service as the Town Manager in the 1970s to his philanthropic and advisory roles on the Vail Symposium and Vail Centre today, Terry Minger has almost 50 years influence in growing the Vail Valley. His career has spanned public, private and nonprofit sectors, including roles as the president and CEO of Sundance Enterprises, the president, CEO and developer of Whistler-Blackcomb Resort, the deputy chief of staff to Colorado Governor, Richard Lamm, and the assistant city manager of Boulder Colorado, and the CEO of the Piton Foundation and the center for Resource Management (CRM).
“Terry was chosen for this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award because he has, in a sense, ‘carried the torch’ for so many here in the Vail Valley. The work he’s done has brought us here, to the launch of the Vail Centre, and this evening is a momentous occasion for us to look forward and see how we can continue to build a legacy of influence,” said Ross Iverson, CEO of the Vail Centre.
“My roots have always been in Vail. This is where I learned who I could be and where I hope to make the greatest impact. I’m humbled by the recognition and excited to share the moment with the Vail Centre as it embarks on a great mission to fill a long-standing opportunity for destination learning in Vail,” said Terry Minger.
